Low Hall Lane

The low Hall Lane site is located on the eastern end of the Honeybone Allotments in Walthamstow, north-east London. This long open landscape called for a landmark building which bookends the view east, reconnecting this site into the surrounding Victorian street scape.

The proposal has a generous open courtyard at the entrance providing door step play and public amenity space. The courtyard is framed by an apartment block, a row of terraced family housing and a communal service pavilion housing a communal refuse store and a secure bike store.

Low Hall Lane is characterised by the expansive allotment landscape to the east. The three buildings define an active and overlooked forecourt.

The landscape character is seen as an extension of the allotments, with communal productive planters defining the forecourt.

The building to the east accommodates bin and bike storage so front doors open straight onto communal landscape free of services.

The proposed buildings are varied in height and articulation in response to their immediate context creating a place of unique character.
